Bringing people closer with Social media

Social Intercation:
As a result of technology, social interaction with others is easier than ever.
However, many people believe that technology causes people to be anti-social. Technology improves social interaction because it allows people to communicate over long distances, share more about their lives with others, and it gives people a way to express themselves and their opinions. People all over the world have been connected through modern-day technology. It is essential to recognize this so that we can continue to better our society and bring everyone closer together with this useful tool.

Using Technology to Communicate Others:

Through the invention of technology, people can now communicate in countless ways. With technology, it is possible to get into contact with someone halfway across the world instantly. Trillions of text messages are sent globally every year, resulting in more social interaction. Many kids in our country have friends that they talk to only online. CNN.com says, “Six billion SMS messages are sent every day in the United States, according to Forrester Research, and over 2.2 trillion a year. Globally, 8.6 trillion text messages are sent each year, according to Portio Research”. Technology not only lets people communicate over long distances, but it gives them the chance to develop relationships as a result of this new type of social interaction. Many people in today’s society believe that technology causes people to talk to others less. It is common to think that people spend the majority of their time on their computers or phones and don’t talk to people face-to-face. An example of this in modern literature is in Fahrenheit 451, Montag’s wife spends all day long in the parlor watching TV instead of spending time with her husband (Bradbury 1-51). This thinking is wrong because people can use technology to communicate with others, just because there is no face-to-face interaction. A study done by the Pew Research Center says, “For American teens, making friends isn’t just confined to the school yard, playing field or neighborhood, many are making new friends online. Fully 57% of teens ages 13 to 17 have made a new friend online, with 29% of teens indicating that they have made more than five new friends in online venues. Most of these friendships stay in the digital space; only 20% of all teens have met an online friend in person”. These results show that people are using their technology to communicate with others, just in a non-traditional way.

Role of Social Media:

Merriam-Webster dictionary defines social media as “forms of electronic communication through which users create online communities to share information, ideas, personal messages, and other contents like videos. Social media is a form of technology that was invented with the intent of giving people a way to share more about themselves and their lives with others, and this is done constantly across the globe. Much of modern-day society believes that technology does not open people up to others, but instead makes them more introverted. This ideology is wrong because people are, in fact, using social media to share their lives. Eric Miller, at Bizjournals.com, says, “This is by far the most controversial new technology, but I see relationships being created almost every day on social media. I have “friends” that I met through people whom I met through work that I communicate with and have gotten to know in ways impossible without social media. And because of that, I understand their different point of view, their struggles, and what they value. People and points of view, I would not know otherwise”. This quote is living proof of technology, allowing people to share their thoughts and beliefs with others. Technology does not lead people to an introverted life; it gives them the chance to create meaningful relationships and be more social than they could have ever imagined.

Social Media Improves The Quality of Llife:

Technology allows people to share more about their lives with others. In a study done of social activists using social media to promote their cause, it is proven that with social media, one can share more about their life. Alice Mattoni says, “Media ecologies and media practices approaches recognize the existence of multiple forms of media technologies, channels, and contents with which activists interact in mobilizations settings, subsequently focusing on that the development of more up to date media advancements doesn’t convert into the programmed expulsion of more established media innovations. Rather, activists tend to use the two in a cumulative manner, also because emerging technologies are often interpreted through the lenses of older technologies, creating multimodal communication channels resting on mixed technological structures (Gillan, Pickerill, & Webster, 2008)”. People do not use technology because they have to, but rather because it is so useful to their cause that they want to.  It can be said that technology causes kids to be less original because they are so used to getting an exact answer instantly instead of having to think about a problem and grow their brain.  “In a 2010 study of about 300,000 creativity tests going back to the 1970s, Kyung Hee Kim, a creativity researcher at the College of William and Mary, found creativity has decreased among American children in recent years. Since 1990, kids have gotten less ready to create special and abnormal thoughts. They are also less humorous, less imaginative, and less able to elaborate on ideas, Kim said” (Rettner 1). This study shows that after technology started to become more popular, kids began to become less creative. Kids being less creative could lead to no originality and no new ideas in the future. Just because through social media and the internet, kids can access any information they want, this does not mean that they cannot still form their ideas and opinions. An article by Riley Wilson says, “Research shows that social media improves the quality of life. It is so natural to lose all sense of direction in a major world, particularly as a youngster. With the utilization of social media, young people have an outlet to communicate, which is significant on the grounds that the articulation is key during the high school years. The atmosphere of secondary school will in general leave many inclination cut off from the world, or considerably different students”. Internet based life gives young people an approach to let out the entirety of their feelings and state how they feel. The structure up of feelings with no outlet can prompt despondency and nervousness, and thus, less inventiveness.

Modern Technology is a Fantastic Invention:

Modern technology is a fantastic invention, and it should not be seen as a bad thing. It better connects us as humans and should not be taken for granted. People need to continue using technology so that it can keep improving. Our technology is advancing very fast, but without our help, it could come to a screeching halt.
How does social media affect our life? Social media is a really convenient and significant methos to communicate all the individuals these days. This idea is not true that with the use of social media, people will lost their communication skills. The more serious issues is this many people utilised the power of social media and used it to menace somebody.
